Sugar lumps, fine confections, and almonds are the classic gifts that couples hand out on their wedding day. These edible wedding favors have been given away for centuries, and they work as the means for the new husband and wife to thank their guests for having shared their very special time with them.
But throughout time, everyone has turned out to be more inventive in deciding on wedding favors and they are not limited to the old fashioned kind. And even if they decide to share the customary ones, the way they are presented has improved through the ages.
In our present times, even with the wide selections available, many couples still choose to offer edible wedding favors to their guests. Some of these include:
• Chocolates. Most everyone enjoys chocolates and people are just delighted to have them as presents. Couples can have special wrappers made that contain their names and the date of the wedding. This makes this delightful edible wedding favor even more special.
• Cookies. Specially-designed cookies can be made to match the wedding scheme, and can be customized. They can be designed to have the couple’s initials, or a special design that matches the entire theme (like an anchor if they have a nautical theme, for example).
• Candies. A tiny bag of sweets and mints, prepared beautifully to fit the wedding motif is a favorite among many. These, too, can be customized and packaged really nicely with ribbons.
• Jams. Jellies, jams, honey and preserves are the option of some couples because they stay longer than most of the other edible wedding favors. Bottles are packaged nicely, with the names of the newlyweds, the date, the venue, and a thank you note can be included.
• Tea wedding favors (or coffee!) Many adults are either coffee or tea consumers, and they would be glad to receive a special something to satisfy their taste buds. It is an excellent idea to get specialized coffee or tea samples in special customized packaging to hand out to your guests. This can be quite unexpected, and would be much treasured, especially if the tea or coffee is of superior quality.
• The classic favorites can still be used, of course, just try to be one-of-a-kind in the presentation.
One note of warning, though. If you intend to get edible wedding favors, you have to be specific of possible allergens – nuts, chocolates, strawberries, etc. You want to avoid any events on your wedding day!
